My Story

Weathering the Storm to Grow A new

The journey that led me to this work was a deeply personal one. Several years ago, the branches of my own family tree were shaken when my mother experienced a rapid health decline, requiring an immediate move to assisted living

As her daughter, I was suddenly thrust into the overwhelming task of selling her home, coordinating her care, and managing the emotional toll of this major life transition. I vividly remember the feelings of panic, grief, and guilt that consumed me during that time. I had no roadmap, no trusted advisor to turn to. I was left to navigate an unfamiliar and fragmented senior care system on my own....

Through that experience, the roots of my purpose took hold. I gained a profound understanding of the challenges facing older adults and their families. I saw firsthand the critical need for a more personalized, empathetic approach to senior care placement and support.

That's when I knew I had to act. I made the decision to pivot my career, drawing upon my background in senior healthcare to launch Tree of Elm - a comprehensive concierge service dedicated to guiding seniors and their loved ones through every step of this journey.

But my work didn't stop there. I also obtained my real estate license, recognizing that the sale of the family home is often a major hurdle in the senior living transition. By offering both senior care placement and real estate services, I'm able to provide a truly holistic solution, rooted in compassion.

Erika’s personal experience caring for her own aging parent inspired her to create a more personalized, empathetic approach to senior care placement and support. Drawing upon her background in senior healthcare, she offers a comprehensive suite of services – from real estate assistance to care coordination to emotional support.

In addition to her work at Tree of Elm, Erika is also a sought-after public speaker. Erika is a licensed real estate agent in the state of Maryland and a member of the National Association of Realtors. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland.
